Fireproofing – protection against fire

ignifugeFireproofing consists in protecting materials and structures against fire, by the application of a flame retardant product. The properties of this flame retardant agent will thus make it possible to delay, limit or control the combustion of the materials. The objective is to resist as long as possible structures in extreme heat and fire, in order to allow the safest possible evacuation of the places and to reduce the damages caused by the fire. It is a type of popular protection in the city of Laval, Montreal, or more widely on the north and south shore.
Structures and the most vulnerable elements of a building or house, wooden structures, steel structures and those containing plastic materials, which are particularly flammable, are the structures to be protected first.

Depending on the materials to be protected, different flame retardants will be used which will best adapt to the different structures. There are many flame retardant products on the market; The most commonly used are alumina, phosphorus products, phosphate products, polyvinyl chloride. It is also possible to protect the constructions against fire with flame retardant coatings, such as paint, varnish or cellulose wadding, and certain plasters.

The objective is to resist as long as possible the structures to extreme heat and fire.  The flame retardants we use:

CAFCO 300

This innovative product offers an effective resistance to fire per unit thickness. This means that we need less quantity of this product to get very good results. The Cafco 300 is therefore an economical solution to go beyond the requirements of IBC (International Building Code) and National Building Code (NBC) or National Building Code of Canada (NBC) safety standards. This product is ideal for steel structures, ceilings, columns, joists and walls, making it particularly suitable for commercial construction projects.

CAFCO 400

This Portland cement-based medium density product is particularly suitable for providing effective fire protection to large steel structures such as beams, beams, joists, floors or roof terraces in Commercial buildings. This product goes beyond the requirements of 430 psf (20.6 kpa) for high-rise constructions.

CAFCO BLAZE-SHIELD II

This eco-friendly, high-density Portland cement product offers superior fire resistance for steel and concrete structures in commercial construction projects. It is very resistant to the most difficult weather conditions that can be encountered on construction sites, especially over extended periods of time. It also provides good thermal and acoustic insulation. The Cafco Blaze-Shield II is particularly recommended for outdoor use, its application efficiency, economic cost and long durability.
MONOKOTE Z-3306

This flame retardant coating, made from Portland cement, is designed for use on plastic, polyurethane and polystyrene foams. By creating a thermal barrier, the Monokote Z-3306 provides protection against heat and fire. Its application is easy, since only water is needed to use it directly and can be the subject of a single application, depending on thickness to choose. This product meets the compliance standards of the Codes and insurance companies.

The products we work with also act as thermal insulation. When installed under a roof, they reduce heat loss. So you need less material to insulate, so you save on roof insulation when you do both jobs simultaneously.

We work on any type of construction: house, residential, commercial or industrial buildings. Consult our experts free of charge to evaluate your needs and offer you the best advice and services for your safety.
