Why remove and decontaminate asbestos?
Asbestos is dangerous because it is made of a highly toxic mineral material, which causes asbestosis, a lung disease that interferes with respiration and several forms of cancer. Composed of millions of microscopic fibers that can not be identified with the naked eye, asbestos can be easily inhaled and represents a real health risk. It is now the second leading cause of occupational diseases and the leading cause of work-related deaths (excluding accidents).
What is asbestos? Why is it everywhere?
Asbestos refers to fibrous-textured minerals that were widely used before 1990 in the industry. The six mineral species grouped under this term possessed effective properties in thermal insulation, acoustic insulation, electrical insulation, fireproofing (resistance to heat and fire), resistance to chemicals and absorption of water. Beyond its technical qualities, its rapid adoption by manufacturers is also explained by the malleability and ease of work that asbestos offered in the insulation works. In friable form, it was possible to integrate it into the manufacture of sheets, glues, mastics or cardboard, woven or braided plates. In non-friable form, it could be found in the manufacture of cement or in binders such as glues, paints, mortars, or road asphalts.
If your home or building was built before the 1990s, it is strongly recommended that your building be inspected by specialists for any asbestos. Thanks to our state-of-the-art equipment, we detect asbestos and remove it as well as evacuate and dispose of it.
When we intervene, we take every precaution to ensure the safety of workers and occupants. We respect and exceed established standards for the decontamination of asbestos.
